The Big Leeds Conversation is now closed
Your opportunity to help co-create our core values and the behaviours that will define how we will work together over the next ten years.
We’re inviting staff, students and postgraduate researchers to share views, rate ideas and work together to co-create our core values and define the behaviours we want everyone to uphold. Together we will create a framework that will guide our behaviours and inspire our university community into the future.
By co-creating and upholding shared values in everything we do, we can shape our next decade to realise our full potential, and build a positive, fairer future for all at Leeds and beyond.
The first Big Leeds Conversation is now closed.
How it works
Our online conversation is similar to a traditional in-person workshop, but it’s more inclusive, accessible and transparent.
We can also involve more people (not just those who can fit in a physical room), allowing us to hear from people across our University community – everyone has a voice.
The Big Leeds Conversation is:
- anonymous – your name is not attached to anything you share;
- open to all Leeds staff, students and postgraduates around the world;
- accessible from wherever you may be – on any computer, tablet or smartphone;
- available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at any time to suit you; and
- open for all to read, rate and comment on each other's ideas.
This Big Leeds Conversation is hosted and delivered by an independent organisation called Clever Together who are providing us with this anonymous, protected digital space. Clever Together will email you directly with your username and password when The Big Leeds Conversation is open.
What you can expect
Staff, students and postgraduate researchers will be invited by email to take part in The Big Leeds Conversation to consider the behaviours we should expect and the behaviours we do not want to tolerate of one another and to discuss ideas on how we can become a truly values-led University.
Comments and ratings from our first discussion will be analysed by our independent partners, Clever Together, to help build a draft framework of values and behavioural expectations which everyone will be invited to check and challenge in our second Big Leeds Conversation.
In this second conversation, taking place in the autumn, we’ll say what we feel is strong, wrong or missing. Together we’ll be able to change and refine the draft into an agreed shared framework.
From these two conversations, we will develop and share our new, co-created behavioural and values framework that will guide everyone in how we will work together over the next 10 years.
With new and clear values, we can re-imagine:
- our employee offer – from how we hire to how we inspire – to help create a collaborative and supportive place to work;
- our student experience and how we offer education; and
- who we collaborate with and how we deliver world-class research.
